About

Are Aussie banks financing Reef destruction?

The Great Barrier Reef and our climate are currently under threat from plans to build the world’s biggest coal port just 50km from the Whitsunday Islands. In full operation, the carbon emissions from the coal exports would be equivalent to 20% of Australia’s total emissions.

Now we’re hitting them where it hurts – their customer base. If the big banks can’t show us they love the Reef, we’re breaking up – moving our money and telling everyone about it.
Why Dump Your Bank?

The project needs billions of dollars in bank loans to go ahead. Already 9 international banks have announced they won’t get involved – now we need you to ask your bank to rule out risking the Reef and our climate.

We can ensure Australia’s big 4 banks do the right thing by speaking in a language they understand: money. If banks know that funding fossil fuel projects will cost them customers, they won’t take the risk.
